Along with the summer comes long, sweltering days, the heart of the baseball season and a need to get away. The coast calls us, those famous Pacific waves seducing us from our neighborhoods. The open road beckons, exciting that need for speed and adventure that fires our most prehistoric synapses. For me, there are a few ways in which to indulge this fire that get ignited within my soul, and Southern California is the perfect place to indulge any desire that you may find bubble up from the depths of your DNA.
Speed and Freedom
I’d like to start off by saying that I’m not advocating ever breaking the speed limit, but let’s face it, we live in Southern California, and you never know when there will be an alien invasion, a zombie apocalypse, or eighteen wheeler trucks that transform into giant robots that defend the city from the Decepticons. When disaster strikes, or the open road calls, you need a Nissan 370Z. The 2015 Z series is the automotive equivalent of piloting a spaceship through hyperspace. In this beauty, Nissan has combined its expertise in state of the art safety features, with racecar inspired performance to create one of the sexiest road hugging machines ever made. Perhaps a racecar isn’t the right thing for you. I don’t really understand, but I know that there are people out there who don’t have that need. For those of you who want to greet summer with a bit of adventure but aren’t quite ready to take the plunge into a Nissan Z series, go to Six Flags Magic Mountain. Magic Mountain is among the best theme parks in the world with no shortage of mind-warping, g-force pushing rides that will make you and your family seem to have tattoos of smiles on your faces. Until recently, I was pretty scared of roller coasters, but a few years ago I as peer pressured into going to a birthday party at Six Flags, and after my first ride, all my fears were launched into the atmosphere and forgotten for life. Now I can’t get enough! Magic Mountain regularly offers excellent coupons and online deals that make their generally outrageous prices easily affordable. I definitely recommend looking online before you go to make sure you get the best deal possible.
If neither Six Flags nor a sports car will satisfy your need for speed, I’d also recommend going to one of the exciting Southern California go-kart arenas. Just a few weeks ago, I took my little brother go-kart racing in Burbank, California and we had the time of our lives. Neither one of us can wait to get back!
